TURKEY

During natural disasters, such as earthquakes, many animals, including dogs, can become displaced or injured. In the case of stray dogs,
they may not have a safe place to go and can be particularly vulnerable to the effects of the disaster.
In the case of the 2023 earthquake in Turkey and Syria we are trying to help the stray dogs affected by this disaster.
We will provide food, water, shelter, and medical care to injured animals and work to reunite lost pets with their owners.

SERBIA

Serbia has been struggling with a significant problem of stray dogs for many years. Estimates suggest that there are more than 1 million stray dogs in the country, which is a staggering number considering the population of the country is just under 7 million people. The problem of stray dogs is particularly acute in the cities, where large numbers of dogs can be seen wandering the streets, often in poor condition.

The problem of stray dogs in Serbia can be traced back to a variety of factors, including a lack of funding for animal shelters and spay/neuter programs, as well as a cultural attitude towards dogs as primarily outdoor animals rather than indoor pets. Additionally, many people in Serbia simply abandon their dogs when they are no longer able or willing to care for them, contributing to the growing population of stray dogs.

The situation is particularly dire for stray dogs in Serbia, who often suffer from malnutrition, disease, and injuries. Many of these dogs are at risk of being hit by cars, attacked by other dogs or humans, or even poisoned. While there are several animal welfare organizations and volunteers working tirelessly to provide care and shelter for stray dogs, their resources are limited, and there is a significant need for additional support.

The problem of stray dogs in Serbia is a complex issue that requires a comprehensive, long-term solution. It’s important to promote responsible pet ownership, provide adequate funding for spay/neuter programs, and work towards creating a culture of compassion and respect for animals. Additionally, supporting animal welfare organizations that are dedicated to rescuing and caring for stray dogs can make a significant difference in the lives of these vulnerable animals.
